One of the world’s premier art exhibitions makes its home in Miami each year during South Florida’s loveliest season. It brings together thousands of people of different cultures with one major mutuality: the love of art and design.
This year, Anima Domus partners with CLEI and Interni, to take part in the Art Basel celebrations by opening up its brand new 7,000 sqft showroom to spotlight space saving design, innovative and sustainable living, and Miami inspired art. The celebration will take place on Friday, December 4th and will feature a speech architect and director MIT’s ‘SENSEable City Lab’: Carlo Ratti, and paintings by Miami-based visual artist: Ramon Aular.
Anima Domus together with CLEI is constantly pushing the world of design forward by engaging our contemporary needs with innovative design. Luca Colombo, Co-Owner and Commercial Director of CLEI outlines their involvement as follows, “CLEI is excited to participate in this event since it showcases our company’s commitment to a design philosophy which focuses on innovation, creativity and superb research and engineering. CLEI’s space-saving furniture solutions are a work of art in itself, responding to modern demands for versatile and artfully designed collections”.
Carlo Ratti, the evening’s presenter, is a world-renowned Italian architect and engineer, who aside from his active and internationally successful architecture practice, teaches at MIT. Prof. Ratti is currently the Director of MIT’s ‘SENSEable City Lab’, a new research initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which focuses on studying and anticipating the changes in design of modern urban environments created by the use of digital tools. On the occasion of the Art Basel event, Carlo Ratti will be speaking on the topic of “The City of the Future” and how this relates to the design of contemporary spaces and furniture.
Ramon Aular, is a Wynwood-based Venezuelan artist who will have several installations on display at the showroom during the event. Ramon’s pieces were created especially for the occasion and the Anima Domus space. After relocating to the US, Ramon’s artistic career has spanned collaborations with known artists such as Jeff Koons in NYC and Mr. Brainwash at Art Basel 2010 and 2011. In 2013, Ramon was commissioned by Porsche to paint its Porsche Carrera on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
This jointly hosted event will bring together international members of the design, art and media world.
